The Glovers faced a difficult afternoon as they were thumped 4-1 at home to AFC Fylde, which you can read more about here (if you dare). Let’s see how the rest of the division fared on an afternoon filled with goals…
We begin with Tuesday’s hosts Aldershot Town, who ensured Solihull Moors’ winless start to the season continued. The Moors actually took the lead in the first half, as former Glover Ben Wodskou made atones for his missed penalty by tucking home the opener. Two goals in the final twenty minutes from Brody Peart and Jordan Alves though, lifted the Shots into the playoffs while stranding Solihull at the foot of the table.
Woking went one better than Fylde, by putting five past Altrincham, including a double from recent addition John Marquis. Forest Green also won by a four goal margin, keeping a clean sheet at home to Gateshead, leaving the visitors stranded in 23rd.
Harrogate Town came from a goal down to win at home to Tamworth, thanks to goals from Bailey Hobson, Will McGowan and summer signing Josh Hmami. Boston’s new away stand was opened for Wealdstone fans on Saturday, however it had to be closed again following an incident in the kitchen. It didn’t deter the Stones though, as they won in Lincolnshire, a two-minute double from ex-Glover Olufela Olomola and Jaydn Mundle-Smith helping the visitors on their way.
There was late drama in the evening kickoff, as Southend left Carlisle with a point; Georgie Kelly opened the scoring early in the game, before late goals from Leon Chambers-Parillon and Kyle McAdam gave the Shrimpers the lead. However, Kelly struck again in the 96th minute to salvage a point for the stuttering Cumbrians.
Halifax grabbed a big win at home against Hornchurch, Zak Gilsenan getting on the scoresheet once again, while a Dom Hutchinson double cancelled out a Mikey Lane brace, with Worthing and Barrow having to settle for a point apiece in one of the lunchtime kickoffs.
Scunthorpe took their first away win of the season at Sutton thanks to Kyle Hurst and Tyrell Sellars-Fleming, and Kidderminster beat 10-man Hartlepool on Friday night. Finally, the league leaders Boreham Wood were held to a 1-1 draw away at Eastleigh thanks to a late equaliser from Temi Eweka.
