Yeovil Town secured all three points in a hard-fought game away at Kidderminster, winning 1-0 thanks to a Johl Powell strike.

The only goal in the game came when substitute Powell burst through on goal and gave Yeovil the lead with 15 minutes to play.

First Half

Billy Rowley named an unchanged starting XI after last Friday’s 4-1 win over Solihull Moors. Johl Powell’s two goals weren’t enough to see him break into the starting lineup.

The first venture forward of the game fell the way of the Glovers after James Daly ran down the left-hand side, but was halted by Angus MacDonald and his tackle went out for a corner. The following corner was defended well by Kidderminster.

Yeovil came forward again as Ryan Jones found Zain Westbrooke, who was one on one with the keeper, but his lobbed effort was wide of the goal.

The best chance of the early stages came for the hosts, as a dangerous ball found Callum Dolan, who shot first time but was denied by a strong save from Jos Barker.

Just past the 20 minute mark, Jones danced through the Kidderminster defence and created an opportunity on his own, but his shot struck the post.

The Glovers continued to dominate the chances, as both Hayden Muller and Brett McGavin squandered chances to give Yeovil the lead.

With the half drawing to a close, Callum Stewart played through Max Brogan at a tight angle, but his effort was low and didn’t trouble the Yeovil ‘keeper.

Second Half

The opening stages of the second half were fairly quiet, with the Glovers making one change early on; Joe Gubbins made way for the returning Ben Radcliffe.

The first real chance of the half once again came for Yeovil, as Westbrooke slid the ball into the patch of McGavin, who shot on the turn but his effort was blocked by the body of a Kidderminster defender.

The pass from Westbrooke would be his last action of the game as he left the field for Johl Powell just before the 70^th minute mark.

With 20 minutes to go, Kidderminster once again had a chance to open the scoring, as a deep cross found the head of Lewis Walker, but once again Barker came to Yeovil’s rescue and denied an opener.

The breakthrough finally came when Slavi Spasov slipped Johl Powell through on goal, who calmly finished past the keeper and gave Yeovil the lead late on, getting his third goal in two games.

Kidderminster looked to respond quickly as Stewart once again came forward and drove into the area, but Barker was equal to his effort.

As the game was nearing a close, Zak Brown teed up Ben Crompton on the edge of the area, but his shot was well wide of post.

Yeovil held onto the three points in a tough away game which seems them climb to sixth in the table after 10 games.
