Yeovil Town were forced to settle for a point at Huish Park, after a game with plenty of chances ended 1-1 against Worthing.

Razzaq Coleman De-Graft’s strike from the edge of the box gave Worthing the lead at the break, before a Brett McGavin free-kick was turned in by a Worthing defender early in the second half.

First Half

Billy Rowley made two changes to the side that beat Kidderminster 1-0 on Saturday, as Ben Radcliffe returned to the lineup and super-sub Johl Powell earned himself his second start of the season. Zain Westbrooke and Joe Gubbins dropped to the bench.

It was a fast start for Worthing as 30 seconds in, Razzaq Coleman De-Graft burst forward and squared it to Ricky Aguiar, but he was denied well by Jos Barker’s legs.

The fast start continued; this time Yeovil came forward with Ryan Jones, who broke towards the byline and cut the ball back towards Johl Powell who shot first time, but his effort was blocked by a Worthing defender.

The first corner of the evening came the way of the Glovers, as Jones came forward and looked to skip past his man, but the Worthing defender put the ball behind for the corner. It was taken by Jones, but it was cleared by the away side.

It was once again Jones causing issues for Worthing as he made a fantastic run into the box and clipped a ball across the face of goal but was cleared again by Worthing captain Joel Colbran.

The game continued to be the Ryan Jones show, as this time he slipped the ball into the path of Powell, who looked set to continue his scoring form, but Taylor Seymour got down quick and made the save.

A quick free-kick from Worthing found Charley Kendall, who put a dangerous cross in, taking a deflection off Jack Kingdon and looked set to dip over the head of Barker, but the ball bounced off the roof of the bar.

Straight up the other end it was Yeovil’s turn to hit the woodwork, as a clearance fell to Jordan Norville-Williams whose fierce effort rifled against the post.

Just before the 30^th minute mark, Razzaq Coleman De-Graft took aim just outside the box which trickled past Barker in the Yeovil goal, giving Worthing the lead against the run of play.

The first booking of the night came for Norville-Williams, who slid in just outside the box and brought down Jordan Young. The resulting free-kick was whipped in by Young, but Barker met the ball well and punched clear.

The Glovers were putting the pressure on Worthing in the closing stages of the half with a flurry of corners, but Seymour and the Worthing defence dealt with them well and held onto their lead.

Second Half

It was a lighting start to the second half for the Glovers, as they won a free-kick just in front of the corner flag. Brett McGavin whipped it in dangerously and bounced across the face of goal, deflecting in off of Joe Cook, giving Yeovil a dream start to the second half.

Yeovil came forward again looking to grab a second in quick succession, as Powell charged down on goal, but Cook timed his challenge brilliantly and stopped the number 20 getting a shot off.

It was Worthing’s turn to look for a second goal, as Colbran’s ball looked to find Young, but Kingdon beat him to it and put it behind for a corner. The subsequent corner fell to Cook who looked destined to score, but a heroic block from Radcliffe diverted the ball over the bar.

Rowley was first to turn to his bench just after the hour mark, as Mason Obeng and Zain Westbrooke entered the pitch, with James Daly and Hayden Muller going the opposite way.

Coleman De-Graft spun away from Norville-Williams and drove into space before pulling the ball back to Cory Adjetey-Brew at the back post, whose effort was somehow blocked by Kingdon, denying a certain goal for the away side.

The closing stages of the game were fairly quiet, with neither team making an attempt to win the game, as the game fizzled out to a 1-1 draw under the lights.

The point for Yeovil keeps the sixth in the National League and on 19 points whilst extending their unbeaten run to four games.
