Aaron Gardiner has taken a deeper dive into what we can expect from the Bristol City loanee.

Seb Naylor is the latest player to join the ranks at Yeovil Town, as the youngster signs on loan from Bristol City until January 2027. The 21-year-old progressed through the Manchester City academy before joining Bristol City in January 2026, and Naylor will now look to gain valuable first-team experience at Huish Park.

During his time with Manchester City, Naylor made 31 appearances in Premier League 2, where he scored three goals and provided two assists. And since joining Bristol City on a permanent basis, Naylor managed to make his senior debut when Bristol City travelled to Port Vale in the FA Cup last season where he played 85 minutes as the Championship side lost the game 1-0.

But what can Yeovil fans look forward to seeing from the newest addition? Having developed in the academy of multiple-time Premier League winners Manchester City (for now, at least…) Naylor undoubtedly arrives with a strong technical foundation and the ability to offer the Glovers another option in several areas of the pitch.

His technical ability is one of his biggest strengths, with his composure in possession and quality of crossing potentially giving Yeovil an additional attacking threat from the left-hand side. His neat link-up play and tactical awareness could also prove valuable in a side looking to move the ball forward quickly and create chances from wide areas.

Under Billy Rowley, Yeovil have looked to play with energy and get the ball forward at speed. Naylor’s ability to contribute in possession could suit that approach, especially if he can offer width and deliver quality balls into dangerous areas for players such as Spasov or Walker to get on the end of. As well as this, his versatility is another positive, with the youngster also capable of playing in midfield or covering positions in the back line, giving Rowley further options as the Glovers enter a busy period of the season.

However, the move also presents an opportunity for Naylor to develop his game further, particularly the defensive side. While he has the technical qualities to make an impact, adapting to the physical demands of senior football, especially non-league football, will be important when dealing with strong and fast wingers and one-on-one situations. Regular first team is not guaranteed at Yeovil due to the quality of the players ahead of him, but Naylor has the ability and skillset to force his way into the side in the coming months.
