Yeovil were beaten 2-0 by FC Halifax Town in one of the National League’s lunchtime kickoffs yesterday, which you can read more about here – but what else happened across the league?
We’ll start with our next National League opponents, Boreham Wood, who staged a late comeback to preserve their unbeaten record at home to Hartlepool. The hosts went into half-time with a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals from Danny Cashman and Tom White. However, a second half blitz from the Stags gave them the lead with half an hour to go, courtesy of Maxim Kouogun, Cole Deeming and an incredible long range Jamie Miley goal. But the hosts had the last laugh, as Zak Brunt equalised in the 87th minute, before the recently returned Matt Rush scored the winner in the 92nd minute to rescue the points for the Wood.
There were goals galore this weekend, as Carlisle hit Altrincham for four, with Callum Camps scoring the pick of the bunch to extend Carlisle’s unbeaten run to seven, while a 94th minute winner from former Glover Olufela Olomola come from behind to beat high-flying Southend in a goal fest at Grosvenor Vale.
In the other lunchtime game, Harrogate came from two goals down to tie with Forest Green, while a 12 minute battering in the first half meant Sutton left Worthing with all three points, in a difficult afternoon for those near the top of the table.
Ex-Yeovil loanee Ben Wodskou was among the goals as Solihull Moors registered a surprise win at home to Kidderminster, and a Tom Cursons double was enough for Boston to take the win in the evening kickoff against Scunthorpe.
Barrow thought they’d won in the 94th minute thanks to Dan Mooney’s effort, but Aaron Blair had other ideas, equalising in the 101st minute for Eastleigh to take a point back to Hampshire. Harrison Sohna scored in the 90th minute for Woking, as they beat Tamworth away from home, and Aldershot got back to winning ways against Gateshead.
In the Friday night game, Fylde came from behind to beat Tuesday’s hosts Hornchurch, with ex-Yeovil man Angelo Balanta opening the scoring for the Urchins. Former Yeovil player Millar Matthews-Lewis bagged a brace, including one special goal that cannoned into the top corner, to help the Millers complete their comeback.
