Yeovil continued their good run of form with a competitive 1-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers, which you can read more about here – let’s see how the rest of the league got on…
We’ll start with Tuesday’s opponents Worthing, who defeated 10-man Halifax at Woodside Stadium in a 2-1 result. The Rebels took the lead seven minutes in via a Joe Cook strike, before Will Hugill equalised just under 10 minutes later. The winner came 39 minutes in, thanks to former Yeovil Town wide man Jordan Young. The visiting Halifax finished the game with 10 men, after Dylan Crowe was shown a red card.
Woking ensured they had a successful trip to Carlisle with a huge 5-2 win at Brunton Park. Summer signing John Marquis scored a second half hat-trick, including two penalties, to leave Rob Elliot’s job in the balance ahead of the midweek clash with high-flying Fylde.
It was a good day for former Glovers, as Michee Efete contributed to two of Aldershot’s five goals at home to Tamworth, with Marcus Dinanga taking another two of them. A frantic second half at Roots Hall saw all six goals scored in the second 45, as Barrow upset Southend with former Shrimper Dan Mooney scoring the final goal in front of his old fans.
Sutton and Forest Green played out a crazy 3-3 draw, with the hosts twice coming from two goals down to salvage a point; arguably the turning point was a second yellow for Freddie Sass at 2-0 up for the visitors, and to top it off, former FGR hitman Temi Babalola scored the equaliser for Sutton in the 93rd minute in what could be Robbie Savage’s final game as FGR boss following interest from further up the pyramid.
Harrogate and Scunthorpe both recorded big home wins against Eastleigh and Hartlepool respectively, while Wealdstone piled further misery on a visiting Gateshead side, keeping a clean sheet and sticking four past them in a big result for their early season struggles.
Three goals in fifteen minutes bagged Altrincham a win over Hornchurch, while another former Glover, Ben Whitfield again scored for Boreham Wood, as the unbeaten league leaders left second bottom side Solihull Moors with the three points. Finally, Fylde beat Boston away from home thanks to a Danny Mayor goal, with Boston finishing the game a man down.
